Training...

The last two days of my life have been spent training (and 'team building') with my fabulous new executive committee!

Day One - Morning

The team took part in some fun (and frustrating at times) team-building activities. These ranged from turning 75 foot of rope into a stretcher to playing blanket vollyball blindfolded and being tied to one another and challenged to get free:

Day One - Afternoon

In the afternoon, we had some more structured training from Scott Farmer (our NUS Regional Officer). We also had some fun blowing bubbles and play fighting:Day One - Evening

In the evening, we all went for a couple of games at the bowling alley (I lost spectacularly),which we then followed with a night out clubbing (and dancing, and drinking too much...)

Day Two

After far too little sleep, Arran, Zoe, Kat and I walked back into the office for 9 (and actually managed to make it on time, miraculously). The rest of the day was spent doing event planning and time-tabbling for the next year (as exciting as it sounds)...

All in all, it was a pretty good event... My new exec are great and I'm really looking forward to working with them next year!

Good lord, don't you despise 'TEAM TRAINING" stuff? This sounds like fun, but Oh god, I hate that shit....of course, I'll never again get a 'real' job.

I imagine that 'student union' team training is probably fairly different to 'real' ream training...

All of the exec get on really well, so spending two days having fun together isn't much of a chore.

They're all so fab, makes me proud to be their president..

Ok, that's different.

i think team building is ok as long as its not at work... because generally, you dont want to be there.. you dont like that guy over there.. and you dont like being in a team..

but college team building sounds like fun..
how exactly do you make a stretcher out of rope...?
jerrycooke: 05/05/2006 5:36 AM
You take the center of the rope fold it in half to make a line and zig-zag it back and forth, making the zigs and zags about a meter apart, you do this for about 6 feet in length, you then take the two end pieces and weave them through the zigs and zags, tying them off as you go.

Good to know for the next time I happen to be in the woods and someone is gravely injured and I just happen to have a 75 foot peice of rope and eight hours to tie knots...

Totally!
geeknostalgia: 05/05/2006 6:01 AM
i totally dont understand.. but.. yeah.
did you solve it?
jerrycooke: 05/05/2006 6:02 AM
Yep, our team nearly did it perfectly... We managed to pick up Zoe (my Vice-President) in it!
